Type Scale Calculator
Picked a font? Now size it. A type scale multiplies a base size by a fixed ratio to get every heading size, so headings feel related. Choose the base size and ratio, preview the scale in a Google Font, and copy the sizes as CSS variables in rem.
How to Compare Fonts
Test fonts the way you will use them.
Font Categories Explained
The tester groups fonts into 7 families. Each suits different jobs.

Font Tester FAQs
Are these fonts free for commercial use?
Yes, every font here is a Google Font under the SIL Open Font License or Apache 2.0, both of which allow commercial use.
Why does bold look slightly different on some fonts?
Fonts without a real bold weight get a synthetic bold from your browser.
What is a type scale?
A set of font sizes made by multiplying a base size by the same ratio, such as 16 × 1.25 = 20. The calculator above builds one.
Which type scale ratio should I use?
1.2 to 1.25 suits most websites; 1.333 or more gives dramatic headings for landing pages.
How do I install a font I like?
Press Get font to open its Google Fonts page, download it and open the file to install. On websites, use the embed code instead.
Can I test my own font file?
Not yet; the tester covers 40 Google Fonts. Your browser can preview local fonts in a document editor.
