Fonts for Social Media

Social media apps have no font menu, so fancy fonts for social media are Unicode characters that look styled. Each page below previews the text inside that app and shows its character limits.

Platform rules at a glance

  • Instagram: fancy fonts work in the name field, bio (150 characters) and captions, not the username.
  • TikTok: name, bio (80 characters) and captions accept fancy fonts.
  • X: most fancy characters count as 2 of your 280.
  • Discord: display names, messages and server names; usernames are lowercase only.
  • WhatsApp: built-in bold, italic and strikethrough plus Unicode fonts.
  • LinkedIn: no bold button in posts, so Unicode bold fills the gap.

Fancy fonts and search

Apps search plain text. Put the words you want to be found for in plain letters and use fancy fonts for decoration.

Social Media Fonts: questions

Can I use fancy fonts in my Instagram username?

No, Instagram usernames accept only letters, numbers, periods and underscores. Put fancy fonts in the Name field and bio instead.

Why do fancy fonts count as more characters on X?

X counts characters above U+10FF as 2, and most fancy letters live far above that range. A 10-letter fancy word uses about 20 of your 280.
