Why does strikethrough text double the character count?

Each letter carries 1 extra combining character, so a 10-letter word becomes 20 characters. Keep that in mind for bios with limits.

Does strikethrough text work in Discord?

Yes, and Discord also has its own ~~strikethrough~~ markdown. Unicode strikethrough works in usernames where markdown does not.

How do I strike through text on Instagram?

Why is there a gap in the line between letters?

Each letter draws its own short line, and some fonts do not join them. The long stroke joins better than the short stroke.

What is the difference between strikethrough and redacted text?
