Minecraft Text Generator
The Minecraft text generator builds colored, bold and obfuscated text with § and & formatting codes, and previews it in a Minecraft-style pixel font.
Minecraft Sign Fitter
A Minecraft sign holds 4 lines of about 15 letters each, and bold text fits fewer. Type your message and the fitter wraps it onto the sign at word boundaries, warns you when it will not fit, and gives you each line with its colour code to paste one by one.
Minecraft Colour Codes
Java Edition has 16 colour codes (§0 to §f). Tap a code to copy it.
Formatting Codes and the Right Order
There are 6 format codes: §l bold, §o italic, §n underline, §m strikethrough, §k obfuscated and §r reset. A colour code resets formatting, so the colour must come first.
§ vs & vs \u00A7
The same code has 3 spellings depending on where you type it.

Minecraft Text FAQs
How do I type the § symbol?
Copy it from the generator; on Windows you can also hold Alt and type 0167 on the number pad.
Do color codes work in Bedrock Edition?
Yes, Bedrock supports § color codes in signs and chat, and adds a few extra colors such as §g (minecoin gold).
How many letters fit on a Minecraft sign?
About 15 normal letters per line and 4 lines; bold letters are wider, so fewer fit. The sign fitter above wraps your text for you.
Why does my bold disappear after a colour code?
A colour code resets formatting, so put §l after the colour: §6§l.
What does §k do?
§k makes text "obfuscated": the letters scramble constantly, often used around secret words.
Can I use colour codes in chat?
Vanilla chat strips § codes for players; servers with plugins allow & codes in chat.
